HAZOP Analysis Meeting for the South Korean Green Methanol Project Successfully Concluded
From August 3 to 7, 2026, the HAZOP (Hazard and Operability Study) analysis meeting for the South Korean Green Methanol Project was successfully held at Gongda Kaiyuan Environmental Protection Technology (Nanjing) Co., Ltd. Senior experts from SouthKorea’s HYOJIN Corporation, Sanyi Design Institute, Sinopec Ningbo Engineering Company and patent technology suppliers gathered in Jinling for five-day in-depth special discussions focusing on processsystem risk identification, hazard prevention-control and technical optimization of the project.
During the meeting, technical teams from all parties leveraged their respective professional strengths and field practical experience. Centering on the full process flow of the project, they systematically sorted out potential safety risks triggered by various process deviations for key process parameters including flow rate, pressure, temperature and liquid level. Against safety-barrier configurations such as project PID drawings, process operating specifications, material physical-property parameters, existing alarm interlocks, emergency shut-off devices, and toxic-flammable gas detectors, they inspected weak links in process design, equipment operation and operating procedures item by item, and accurately identified various hazard sources and operability-related risks.
For each risk item identified, participating experts conducted graded assessments one by one. In-depth deliberations were carried out on key topics including hazard rectification approaches, process-optimization strategies and prevention-control system upgrading. Pragmatic and efficient on-site discussions yielded multiple important technical consensuses, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent safety-oriented design of the project.
